Soundwave Festival first began in the early 00s when a group of young musicians in Scarborough realised their dream of creating a platform for performing artists of all ages, abilities, gender and genres to showcase their original music in a professional setting. Ran by the young people, for the young people, it became the staple event of the summer for a whole generation of musicians in Scarborough, with attendance frequently surpassing 800+ people. After a decade's absence, Soundwave is having a greatly anticipated relaunch, and will once again provide the desperately needed opportunities for young people in Scarborough to grow in their musical and performing abilities, gain confidence and be part of an inclusive community with creativity at its heart. The event is also hosting the DIY Collective's 10 Year Reunion, and will see a variety of Scarborough's most popular bands reform and play Soundwave once again! As we sadly now live in a culture where the arts are increasingly being disregarded and left unsupported, we are relying on you more than ever to ensure that this project is a success.
