Magpie Arts presents Marcelo Borges for his first exhibition at The Hackney Picturehouse. Creating a DNA videoprint connecting the memory of timelessness through photographic manipulations of pixels and grains, and exploring the stillness of the moving image. Borges projects recaptured images of his grandfather's role in the 1953 Brazilian film "Rio 40 Degrees" upon his body, and reinterprets the past into the present through his photography. Magpie Arts are developing an arts programme at The Hackney Picturehouse that is focused on cinema as its subject. The intention is to work with artists who investigate elements of cinema within their arts practice. The aim is to exhibit a range of artists whose works offer a varied and incisive view of the subject. Please join us at The Hackney Picturehouse for the private view on the 8th of August. We are also having an after show party at a secret location. Featuring live music from Marcelo Borges Eggers band Lunar Ice https://www.facebook.com/lunaricemusic , as well as Andy Clydesdale and Dan Hunt's band We Wild Blood, https://www.facebook.com/WeWildBlood. Location will be announced on the night, so join us for a fantastic summer party to celebrate Marcelo's show. If you would like further information on the show, please contact Magpie Arts at [email protected]
