Saturday, June 21st Come celebrate Summer Sailstice! Join us for the Newport Beach Sailing to Crystal Cove! Come join us and other Hobie Island sailors celebrating the First Day of Summer - during the world wide Summer Sailstice event. The Southwind Kayak Center and the Southwind Sailors Island Club are hosting this open sailing for all Hobie Islands out of Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade Beach, California. ITINERARY FOR THE DAY - 10:00am - Arrive at North Star Beach and set up your Hobie Islands - side by side at the waters edge. 10:30am - Captains Meeting and Potluck - We would like everyone present for this meeting so be on time. POTLUCK- We will have a potluck lunch so please bring your favorite dish that will serve 6-8 people. Thank you! 11:00am - Prepare to launch into the back bay with us and sail towards Newport Harbor and the open ocean beyond. Our goal is to turn south just a bit towards Crystal Cove, Corona Del Mar. We usually see lots of sea lions and some time dolphin. 3:30pm - Return to the Newport Back bay and North Star beach for breakdown and to discuss next calendar sailing or individual sailing opportunities. 4:30pm Breakdown and put away equip - see you again soon! THINGS TO BRING: -We will be venturing out of the harbor - so bring dry pants or wetsuits, warm paddling jackets are recommended. -Plan to bring along some food and water for the sailing portion as we will be out on the water for about 3-4 hours. - A stop is planned somewhere on the return for bathroom needs. - Bring Sunglasses, hats, sunscreen for on water sun exposure. - Kayak cart or wheels is highly recommended for the launch. **Since this is a POTLUCK LUNCH - please bring food to share for up to 6-8 people - this is very much appreciated!
