With her beautiful voice she exuded confidence and maturity and is sure to go far. We look forward to hearing her again on our stage. Dave Knowles followed with his entertaining act combining guitar, flute and voice, producing amazing sounds by using a loop pedal. He was quite a feat to behold with his “one-man band” performance resulting in some extremely creative and interesting music. Definitely one to keep and eye on, thank you Dave. The trio Peppa Jane ended off the evening perfectly with Nielen & Carlo on guitar and upright bass adding their harmonies to the soulful and melodious voice of Emma Rycroft. A solid performance of covers and originals delivered to a very receptive and appreciative audience. Next up in September Mads & Reini – Mads has been a lead vocalist in cover bands over the years, most significantly with “Back to Back” with Kenny Bird at the helm. She recently joined the newly-formed Out of the Blue where she met Reini Adelbert and then, inspired by his original work, became involved with False Bay Folk. Her influences include Joni Mitchell, Carole King and James Taylor. Reini will be backing Mads for her debut at False Bay Folk. Faye & Wren is a South African group fronted by singer-songwriter duo - Wren Hinds (Hinds Brothers Band) & ambient songstress Faye Oakes. The outfit have crafted an honest and captivating sound performing on the Southern African music scene and with their unique performances they have harnessed a dedicated listenership. Although their influences, culture & backgrounds are diverse - Oakes raised on the borders of Alexandra in the east of Johannesburg & Hinds growing up in a small coastal town in the South East of KwaZulu Natal, It’s clear that their meeting place is through music & connecting with music listeners who can expect an original sound that captures a timeless place accompanied by a sincere style of writing. Faye and Wren are currently wrapping up their second album, a collaborative with some of Africa’s finest young musicians & collaborators to be released on independent South African label South Sea Records. Reinhardt Wild Lettuce Buhr is an ever evolving World fusion multi-instrumentalist. He blends the sounds of the Flamenco guitar's unpredictable rhythms with the ancient harmonies of the Australian didgeridoo, combined with epic ethereal electric cello sounds. A kick drum and Pure Analog delay is added to the diverse mix of instruments which then create a timeless improvisational sound journey.
