Firstly, happy new year to all you beautiful people! But that's not what we're really here for.. "As Tammie glowr'd, amaz'd, and curious, The mirth and fun grew fast and furious; The piper loud and louder blew; The dancers quick and quicker flew; They reel'd, they set, they cross'd, they cleekit" As most of us aren't well versed in old Scottish slang, we'll write this post in modern day English! Every year, people all across Scotland celebrate the great, late poet that is Rabbie Burns with a night full of good food, good whisky, a lot of dancing and a lot of laughter! This year, DUVC will be celebrating Burns night with a two course meal of traditional Scottish food - Haggis, Neaps and Tatties followed by Cranachan and then dancing the night away at our very own Ceilidh! For those of you who don't know how to Ceilidh dance (or even how to pronouce Ceilidh .. its kay-lee) then you'll soon pick it up - the live ceilidh band that we've hired will teach us as we go along! So don't be shy, get on your dancing shoes! Okay, so I've rambled - THE PLAN IS to meet at 7 at the Queens Hotel (ooooh), and a wee price of £20. If you could get the money to us on the first Wednesday training that we are back that would be fabulous! (If you can't make that then please message Alice or Jessica and we can arrange to meet you some other time for the money).
