Metaphysical realism is, according to its proponents, the only solution to the philosophical mess and passivity left by decades of domination by phenomenology, hermeneutics and deconstruction. The aim of this colloquium is to find out what the rise of continental realism has to offer beyond polemics against these dominant strands in 20th century philosophy. What does realism have to offer for the future if we break with idealism? What will be the relevance of realism for other branches of philosophy and sciences? What are the prospects of the realism debate, its pitfalls, limits? How will realism develop in the future? These are the questions we want to address during our event. We have invited five of the most prominent realist philosophers to do so. Speakers: Markus Gabriel (Universtät Bonn) Graham Harman (American University Cairo) Maurizio Ferraris (Università degli Studi di Torino) Gabriel Catren (Université Paris Diderot - Paris 7) Tristan Garcia Registration: Admission is 3 euros.
