Organized By Commonwealth Slam - Poetry Readings and Events
824 Caroline Street,Fredericksburg (38.302010, -77.458550)
CommonWealth Slam Poetry Readings and Events presents Thursday Night Poetry at the Art First Gallery in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Thursday Night Poetry starts with a writing workshop at 7 p.m. followed by an open mic at 8 p.m. CommonWealth Slam is excited to announce this date as part of the "No, Regrets Tour" put together by very talented poets William Stanford Knudsen and Chris Leja! Between them, William and Chris have various credits to their names from chapbooks, to appearances on slam teams and in literary journals and even to the rarefied air of Pushcart Prize nominations. What! Maybe we'll even get a collaboration performance like this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aETcy33ono0 Located mere blocks from the University of Mary Washington on Caroline Street, CommonWealth Slam is looking to become a part of the Fredericksburg community and provide a hub between Washington D.C. and Richmond, Virginia for traveling performance artists. Our community spotlight has not yet been taken for this show. If you run a local business, charity, or sell art, please come in and speak on what you do and how you interact with the community. "Unplugged" acoustic and a capella performances are encouraged! If you can sing, we want to hear you! This is sanctuary. This is safe space. This is spoken word. Cover: $5 (Or Best Offer) Free w/ Student I.D. Free to Perform P.S. For those who have allowed me to hold on to their shirttails and stories, thank you. --Robert
