Details

Beacon B.I.K.E.S. (Better Infrastructure Keeping Everyone Safe), Seattle Neighborhood Greenways, and concerned neighbors are holding a Safe Streets Walk and Solutions Meeting on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 4 pm to 5 pm. On January 5, a 58-year-old woman died crossing the street at Beacon Avenue and McClellan Street. This was in the heart of Beacon Hill, within sight of the light rail station, the Beacon Hill Library, and El Centro de la Raza. Just last week, another pedestrian was hit in the same transportation corridor further north on Beacon Hill. The Safe Streets Walk and Solutions Meeting will bring together community members and public officials to propose and discuss pedestrian safety improvements to provide safe access to the light rail station and surrounding community resources. We will gather in front of the Beacon Hill Light Rail station at 4pm. After some brief comments, we will walk across Beacon Avenue at the intersection where the death occurred. We will convene around 4:20pm at the meeting room of the Seattle Public Library on 2821 Beacon Ave. S. for the Solutions Meeting. (This event is not sponsored by The Seattle Public Library.)
