THE BEST ALUMNI POLO TOURNAMENT YET. This first edition of the International Alumni Polo Cup will be hosted at one of Europe's best clubs in Sotogrande, Spain. The tournament will be held on 18 and 19 April on the fabulous Rio grounds, dubbed the 'Wimbledon of polo pitches'. These pitches are renowned as the best in the world. This is partly due to their location: flanked on various sides by a tropical nursery, the rio Guadiaro river (from which the grounds take their name), and vistas of blue skies, sun and distant mountains. A type of grass called Tifton is grown on the pitches. It is tough, springy, will not tread in and can withstand being torn up by the thunderous bashing of hundreds of hooves. During the 21 chukkas spread over the weekend there will be refreshments available from the restaurant which also offers great viewing areas for spectators and on the evening of the 18th there will be a polo party with asado. The participating teams will shortly be announced. We're looking forward to seeing you all there!
