How will Open Rescue change the world? Open Rescue is one of the most powerful forms of direct action. The power of Open Rescue, when strategically performed and executed, can provoke attention, mobilize activists, and most importantly, save innocent lives. Open rescue cuts through all of these obstacles and gets to the truth. It overcomes legal barriers through civil disobedience. It cuts down on time and financial costs by allowing anyone with big heart and a smart phone to transform into a whistleblower. And it saves us from having to put both animals and activists through the trauma of a violent system. -- Organizers with Direct Action Everywhere will be presenting and talking about DxE's recent open investigation at a Whole Foods supplier and sharing the story of a young hen, Mei Hua, who was rescued from a place of misery and violence. Organizers will also be talking about DxE and how nonviolent direct action can change the world when empowered activists build strong communities. The presentation will include a viewing of a 17 minute documentary short, "Truth Matters; It's not Food. It's Violence.", which was described by food writer James McWilliams as "perhaps the most strategically incisive undercover strike ever in the age of 'humane' animal products." It will conclude with a short Q&A. For more on Open Rescue see here: http://bit.ly/dxe_or
