A Soul Movement Journey with Live Music Sunday, May 15, 1 pm - 4 In this improvisational movement workshop we will connect to ourselves and others with Live Violin Music by Annemarie Wiesner and Movement Facilitation by Maria Ferrar. Dance is part of being human. Our bodies were designed for movement and our soul is here to express. Our bodies are our vessel of communication and experience and yet we restrict and limit our expression and movement due to the fear of what others may think about it. This prevents us from experiencing our fullest potential and the yumminess of being in a human body. The truth is, we are ALL amazingly great dancers when we aren’t trying to dance copy or mimic someone else’s dance. The way your body wants to move to music IS the right way. We have only to tell ourselves a few simple truths that can quite literally liberate not only our bodies but our minds. Join Maria and Annemarie and experience freedom in your Body & Soul! Class is limited to 20 attendees. Early online preregistration strongly encouraged. Cost: $55; members save 15% As a Cuban-born girl from a family of professional Rhumba and Mambo dancers, Maria Gutierrez-Ferrar knows the power of music and dance. Her passion is sharing it with everyBODY! Maria became a dance instructor over 25 years ago and LOVES helping people find joy through music/dance. Teaching dance fitness 15 years ago, she realized how terrified people are to move their own bodies and researched ways to help students relax and actually enjoy the process. She found GROOVE by Nike Elite Instructor, Misty Tripoli of the World GROOVE Movement, and joined its mission of elevating consciousness through free-flowing expressive movement. Annemarie Wiesner (violin, voice, composer, improviser), born and educated in Zurich, Switzerland, worked in orchestras, theaters, museums and multimedia productions in Europe and USA. With a Fulbright scholarship she studied composition and improvisation in diverse styles at the New England Conservatory. Residing in Brooklyn, New York, she has collaborated in many performances involving music, dance, visual arts and text, with her group the Flextet and other ensembles. Ms. Wiesner is licensed in Reconnective Healing, Bones for Life and Jin Shin Jyutsu. She has studied and collaborated with dancer and Sufi teacher Dunya McPherson and with healer and psychic Deborah Graham.
