Cape Breton fiddler Anita MacDonald and pianist Tyson Chen will present a workshop for players interested in learning Cape Breton style fiddle and accompaniment. Intermediate skill level suggested. Tyson will demonstrate Cape Breton style piano, guitars and mandolins etc. are also welcome in the accompaniment section. The workshop will be followed by a house concert. Schedule is: 1 - 230 pm Workshop 230 - 330 break, practice, socializing 330 - 500 pm Anita MacDonald/Tyson Chen house concert Admission is by pre-registration with Bill Cameron, payment at the event. Cost: Workshop: $15 adults, $7 youth 18 & under or low income Concert: $10 adults, $6 youth/low income Anita MacDonald is one of Cape Breton's best up-and-coming fiddlers, and has just released her first CD, Stepping Stones, at the 2013 Celtic Colours Festival. She won the 2011 Frank Sampson Award for young CB Celtic artists. Tyson Chen, originally from Ottawa, now calls Cape Breton home, and is in demand at dances and ceilidhs all over the island due to his mastery of the driving, intricate Cape Breton piano style.
